GE Vernova is betting big on AI technology markets with its proprietary autonomous inspection software. The cloud-based program utilizes image capture devices and artificial intelligence machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms to automate manual inspection and monitoring of industrial assets.
“Over 20% savings on overhaul and maintenance (O&M) cost could be realized from leveraging autonomous visual asset inspections,” says John Villali, an analyst at International Data Corp.
GE Vernova also has launched a new startup, ThinkLabs, which will focus on developing technology to help enhance grid planning through intelligent automation. Goal is to help improve the way electric utilities manage, balance, optimize, and coordinate the grid.
Meanwhile, GE Vernova’s more traditional gas turbine business has booked several orders including:
- Western Farmers Electric Co-ope order for two aero LM6000VELOX packages to replace aging steam turbine plants at the Anadarko Plant in Oklahoma. Each package includes an LM6000 gas turbine and electric generator,
New VELOX package design will reduce the installation and commissioning schedule of LM6000 aero gas turbines by up to 40%, while reducing installation time and total installed costs.
- Sixteen more dual fuel LM6000VELOX DLE gas turbine and generator packages forTennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Energy Complex.
TVA is said to have chosen the DLE option of the LM6000VELOX package solution for its dual fuel capability, high cyclic life and fast start time.
Aim is to provide more flexible, reliable and dispatchable generation to support the growth in intermittent renewables.
