- GE Vernova did well from President Trump’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, announcing initiatives worth up to $14.2 billion for energy equipment technology and services to support power generation and grid stability projects.
- This includes up to $2 billion in backlogs or on a reservation agreement as of the first quarter of 2025, with future contracts and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for agreements spanning across the next four years for heavy frame gas turbines, synchronous condensers, balance of plant equipment, carbon capture technologies, maintenance services, repairs, spare parts, and more.
- GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy announced that construction of the first BWRX-300 small modular reactor has been approved by the Province of Ontario and Ontario Power Generation. Construction is about to begin. Completion of the first unit is scheduled by the end of the decade.
- Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to construct a GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) at the Clinch River site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It is the first construction permit application for a BWRX-300 in the U.S.
- GE Vernova expects to invest nearly $600 million in its U.S. factories and facilities over the next two years to help meet the surging electricity demands around the world. In Greenville, SC, the company plans to invest more than $160 million to support capacity growth, quality, industrialization and delivery efforts, and new testing capability with hydrogen fuel. - Two GE Vernova trailer-mounted TM2500 mobile aeroderivative units have been ordered by Bahamas Turbines Limited to expand its Clifton Piers power plant located in New Providence Island, Bahamas.
- Oglethorpe Power in Georgia has selected GE Vernova 7HA.03 combined-cycle technology for its new natural gas plant in Monroe County. This includes two 7HA.03 gas turbines, two H84 hydrogen-cooled generators, two triple-pressure with reheat Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and two STF-D600 steam turbines with H65 hydrogen-cooled generators.
- GE Vernova also announced the successful completion of the modernization of Sasol’s Secunda power plant in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The modernization included the replacement of the existing pre-combustor system with a new DLN1+ combustor supplemented by a Fuel Gas Module skid to increase the operational efficiency of the two installed 9E gas turbines and reduce carbon emissions.
