SK Engineering & Construction has contracted for Siemens to supply the power island equipment for an IPP combined cycle project that Yeoju Energy Services is developing in Gyeonggi province.
The new plant, with more than one gigawatt of capacity and over 63% net plant efficiency, will run on re-gasified liquefied natural gas (LNG). It is designed around a multi-shaft configuration in which two gas turbines and one steam turbine each drive its own generator.
Siemens’ scope of supply includes two SGT6-9000HL gas turbines, one SST6-5000 steam turbine, three SGen6-2000P generators, two heat recovery steam generators, and an SPPA-T3000 distributed control system.
In simple cycle mode, the 60Hz SGT-9000HL is ISO rated at 405,000kW gross baseload output and 8010 Btu/kWh heat rate (42.6% efficiency) on natural gas fuel, with a 24 to 1 compressor pressure ratio, 1598 lb/sec mass flow and 1238°F exhaust temperature.
In combined cycle mode, the single-shaft 1×1 configuration is rated at 595,000kW net baseload output and < 5416 Btu/kWh net plant heat rate ( > 63% efficiency).
The HL-class engineering upgrade is based on the proven design of the SGT-8000H series of gas turbines and extensive operating experience gained from more than one million service hours around the world. To date, says Siemens, the company has booked orders for five HL machines.
