Mitsubishi Power Americas has been developing and manufacturing battery energy storage systems (BESS) for some time. Recently the company spun off the BESS unit operations into a wholly owned subsidiary known as Prevalon Energy .
All existing BESS solutions and business has been transferred to this dedicated pure-play entity. Prevalon enters the market with an established track record, a pipeline of global projects, and workable BESS technology. To date, Mitsubishi has developed over 30 projects and three gigawatt hours (GWh) of utility-scale BESS around the world.
Part of the reason to divest these assets from the parent company ls to give it the agility of a start-up focused on the strong interest surrounding alternative energy sources. The leadership team from Mitsubishi Power’s BESS unit will move over to Prevalon along with employees and other assets.
“The establishment of Prevalon as a pioneering force, committed to innovating products and services in the sector, is a response to the escalating demand in the battery energy storage segment,” says Tom Cornell, President & CEO, Prevalon.
“Our core mission is to design and deploy safe, reliable, secure, and groundbreaking battery energy storage solutions, contributing to a more sustainable future.”
